L. Stoate. £7.50 including UK Postage       £9.00 including Overseas Postage
CORNWALL SUBSIDIES IN THE REIGN OF HENRY VIII 1524 and 1543 and The Benevolence of 1545  Edited by T. L. Stoate (Ref: 005) For   hundreds   of   years   the   King,   Queen   or   Government   has   needed   to   raise   money   for   various enterprises,   usually   wars.   In   the   distant   past,   as   today,   it   was   the   people   of   the   country   that   had to   find   this   money   usually   in   the   form   of   taxes,   subsidies   etc.   Whilst   these   taxes   were   not welcomed   by   the   people,   they   are   a   valuable   asset   for   the   historian   today,   as   lists   were   usually kept of those who paid. This   CD   has   the   lists   for   Cornwall   for   the   years   of   1524,   1543   and   1545   with   many   thousands   of names and is fully searchable as well as having an index £7.50 including UK Postage       £9.00 including Overseas Postage

CALENDAR OF DEVON AND CORNWALL WILLS PROVED AT EXETER (Ref 137) edited by Edward Alexander Fry During   the   Second   World   War   the   Wills   held   at   the   Exeter   Probate   Registry   were   destroyed   by   a bomb.   Over   the   years   some   copies   have   come   to   light   that   were   held   by   solicitors   and   some   that were   in   private   hands   but   many   thousands   were   lost. This   publication   is   the   Calendars   of   Wills   and Administrations   relating   to   Devon   and   Cornwall   that   were   proved   in   the   Principal   Registry   of   the Bishop    of    Exeter    between    1559    and    1799    and    those    of    Devon    proved    in    the    Court    of    the Archdeaconry of Exeter between 1540 and 1799. This   book   consists   of   almost   nine   hundred   pages   listing   those   who   left   wills,   the   year   they   were proved   and   where   the   person   lived.   This   means   that   if   the   person   that   you   are   interested   in   left   a will   that   was   proved   in   Exeter   you   should   be   able   to   find   at   least   a   mention   of   them.   It   is   also   very useful   in   trying   to   locate   a   lost   person,   providing   they   left   a   will   or   administration   was   granted   for their goods. Indexed, bookmarked and searchable. £5.00 including UK Postage       £6.50 including Overseas Postage
