CORNWALL SUBSIDIES IN THE REIGN OF HENRY VIII 1524 and 1543 and The Benevolence of 1545  Edited by T. L. Stoate (Ref: 005) For   hundreds   of   years   the   King,   Queen   or   Government has    needed    to    raise    money    for    various    enterprises, usually   wars.   In   the   distant   past,   as   today,   it   was   the people    of    the    country    that    had    to    find    this    money usually   in   the   form   of   taxes,   subsidies   etc.   Whilst   these taxes   were   not   welcomed   by   the   people,   they   are   a valuable    asset    for    the    historian    today,    as    lists    were usually kept of those who paid. This   CD   has   the   lists   for   Cornwall   for   the   years   of   1524, 1543   and   1545   with   many   thousands   of   names   and   is fully searchable as well as having an index £7.50 including U. L. Stoate. £7.50 including U. K. P & P
